Clicker 5 makes a 'significant difference' to the writing skills of elementary students
Clicker 5 has achieved some fantastic results in a number of recent research studies exploring the impact of multimedia writing support software on the progress of elementary school children.
Occupational Therapist and Assistive Technology Specialist, Rose Racicot, has undertaken a study exploring the effects of using Clicker on the writing skills of grade K-6 students with mild to moderate developmental delays. Ms. Racicot’s results indicate that Clicker makes a significant difference to the independent writing productivity of students with autism, developmental delay, and learning disabilities, as demonstrated by the considerable growth in the participant’s overall writing scores.
In the UK, The University of Nottingham’s Dr. Arjette Karemaker has also undertaken a Clicker study, assessing the effectiveness of Clicker on the literacy development of kindergarten-age students of varying ability levels. Dr. Karemaker’s results showed increased performance gains across a broad range of basic literacy skills, from phonological awareness to recognizing high frequency keywords, after intervention with Clicker as compared to traditional pedagogical practices. She also found that Clicker increased computer enjoyment among students and teachers alike.
