President calls for more college grads...

Somewhere in the President’s acceptance speech last night W called for increased funding for community colleges.  I can go along with that.  Later he said that he wanted more people to start off in the working world with a college degree.  That needs a bit of clarification.  There are plenty of degreed individuals working at Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Outback and other places.  This is probably not the careers they desire not anticipated during college.  A degree is great...that indicates discipline and perseverance...but skills are trump.  Most community colleges are dominated by “skills” or “trades” programs, and that’s where the focus need to be.  But, that doesn’t sound as sexy in a speech, I guess.
